vroom vroom

only two pit stops during the show.
not bad for a first timer with what felt like an endless mug of rootbeer.
vroom vroom.
 {we left max at home with a babysitter. love me a date with my two men.}

i'd rather be sliding.

what used to be ragging waters is now seven peaks.
and a-town wanted to celebrate her right bold age of 26 there today.
i finally forced the shaking cold max into a towel to warm up after an hour.
she screamed and cried and arched her back b/c she wanted to stay in.
until she stopped crying.
and then she just sat.
for 5 min and got warm.
and i held her in the shade.
then she realized she would rather be sliding.
she went down at least 15 times.
and after every time she would sign "more."
and nod her head yes.
the pink ones were my favorite.
they made my stomach flip.
and then i got to go down the white ones after.
*bonus*
we carried both of our kids out of the park screaming b/c they loved it so much.
i can't wait to go back.
{but i could do without the screaming when it's time to go}
i'd better think of better bribes...

friday {not the movie}

friday
night.
b/c really, the bathroom is just too far away when you're outside.
 bahahahaha!!!

not pretty

they have vined up into my bushes.
it's not pretty.

he told me so

we went to the zoo yesterday, and i don't think we looked at one animal.
ok wait,
the giraffes.
when i had to go wash my hands in the bathroom of the giraffe house.
yes, that's right.
we looked at them then.
but nothing else.
b/c the fake dinosaurs were the only thing the kids were interested in.
they ran past the monkeys.
the elephants.
the snake house (thank goodness--SO HOT in the snake house).
the stinky tigers (again, thank goodness).
and the camels.
we did get the ice cream.
and the carousel.
they thought the dinosaurs were real.
the t-rex still has brennan shaking in his boots.
he hid under the stroller when it growled.
and max jumped out of her seat.
for real.
all of the babies were crying.
and some toddlers too.
it was pretty scary.
another one squirts water.
i liked that part.
brennan rode the cheetah racer on the carousel.
max the zebra.
she kept turning around and waving at brennan.
it has made it into my top ten favorite moments of life.
{which at some point will be more than ten, but i will still say top 10 b/c it sounds more special that way}
and we chose the orange swirl ice cream.
i thought i was going to share one with max.
i thought wrong.
it was hot.
sweaty.
and the misters were heaven sent.
we walked around the mist circle twice.
before the bathroom.
and twice after the bathroom.
the kids found dinosaur bones in the sand pit.
brennan wants to go back to the zoo to see the dinosaurs.
b/c they were real.
he told me so.

that little shave ice shack

nothing compares to the wishing well on kauai,
but on a hot day we are easy to please.
especially when it only costs a $1.
we sat there in the shade making a huge mess of
tiger's blood, sour apple, and cream.
you must always get cream on top.
and ice cream on the bottom if your wallet is extra full.
or if it's after dinner.
brennan made friends with jen.
the shave ice lady.
and was completely convinced she lived in that little shave ice shack.
even though we kept telling him that she didn't.
i want to know what rock n roll tastes like.
i wonder if anyone's really tried every flavor?
all i know is that next time i'm going to pick my flavor
and then order the same one for the kids
b/c they both couldn't keep their straws out of mine.
and when all was said and done i had poured half of mine and half of max's into brennan's,
and he had pawned off his sour apple with cream onto max.
after he had already eaten half.
god bless jen at the shave ice shack.
for letting us sit in the shade and spill all over.

it looked like i peed my pants {i swear i didn't}

i got all the way to the shampoo aisle at smith's tonight before i realized that i most definitely looked like i peed my pants.
i did not.
but i did feel the need to pull my sweatshirt down extra low.
b.c it surely looked like i had.
i was on the phone with my dad when i started wondering what the cool breeze was on my bum.
then i realized it.
a wet swimsuit under gray pants is not very becoming.
dad thought it was hilarious.
and it was.
it really was.
thank goodness i'm not 16 anymore.
it's much funnier now that i'm not.

my lazy summer house

my dishwasher hasn't been unloaded from yesterday.
there are dirty dishes piled to the brim in the sink.
a pan from this morning on the stove.
with cheese baked on.
the bed's not made.
the laudndry is well...
still sitting in the laundry room.
some clean.
some dirty.
there's food under my kitchen table.
and a pink fork from IKEA.
there are toys dumped on the floor by the tv.
towels and swimsuits are drying on the outdoor patio.
and most of the time i don't think about dinner until after 7pm.
and do you know why?
b/c we just can't get enough of 84 and sunny.
and when we're outside,
i get nothing done in the house.
it's GREAT!
a vacation every single sunny day.
so i've come to terms with my lazy summer house.
i could really get used to this:)
